¡Buenas tardes, amigos! Los invitamos al Ciclo de Letras - Literatura y Sonido II, en la casa de Victoria Ocampo, Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Buenos Aires.

El 16 y el 23 de agosto, a las 19 hs, El intruso en los jardines: cuatro aproximaciones sonoras a la literatura, presenta a cuatro artistas que trabajarán desde sus respectivas disciplinas (la composición, la interpretación, el arte sonoro, la performance) en la creación de piezas surgidas de una investigación literaria y acústica.

Taller y concierto en Buenos Aires

Un nuevo viaje musical. El sábado 9 de julio, en Buenos Aires, daré un pequeño taller y recital en casa de Lola Goldstein y Guillermo Ueno.

Rondel ~ A workshop of music & poetry in Buenos Aires

Rondel es una melodía circular. Rondel es, también, el taller donde buscaremos -a partir de la lectura de textos, apreciación de discos y obras originales- un diálogo entre música y poesía. Las estaciones del año, las melodías repetitivas, los jardines de piedra y la textura del papel, Matsuo Bashō y Friedrich Hölderlin nos guiarán en nuestro recorrido para compartir un espacio de introspección y deleite.

El taller está dirigido a músicos, artistas, amantes y curiosos de la música y las letras.

Rondel se desarrollará en Yapeyú (Almagro, Buenos Aires) durante la tarde del domingo 15 de mayo, entre las 15 y 18 horas. Habrá una pequeña merienda. Incluye el material didáctico.

安永哲郎事務室の活動が、外務省「平成27年度 日本ブランド発信事業」に採択されました。それに伴い、2016年3月12日～21日にかけて南米アルゼンチンとウルグアイに訪問します。

現地では『日本の実験音楽をとりまく状況の編集と実践』をテーマに、レクチャー、ワークショップ、フィールドワーク、パフォーマンスという4つの活動を展開する予定です。

アルゼンチンではブエノスアイレスに滞在。国立サンマルティン大学を舞台に、レクチャーや学生参加のワークショップとともに、フェデリコ・デュランド とのライヴ・パフォーマンスを二日間行います。フェデリコは、minamoと同じ12kから作品をリリースしているレーベルメイトでもあり、一昨年には鎌倉・光明寺でもコラボレーションした仲。ひさしぶりの再会＆再共演です。

ウルグアイでは、現地にて情報源の限られた地域に暮らすこどもたちのためにワークショップを提供しているNPO法人Hornero Migratorioとともに、東部のトレインタ・イ・トレスの小学校を訪問。フィールドワークを通して一緒に音楽を制作します。翌日には首都モンテビデオにある国内最古のシアタ、ソリス劇場でワークショップと集団即興を。参加メンバーは、映画『アモーレス・ペロス』、『モーターサイクル・ダイアリーズ』、『ブロークバック・マウンテン』 、『バベル』などの音楽を手がけたグスターボ・サンタオラヤ率いるタンゴ・エレクトロニカバンドBajofondo（バホフォンド）のメンバーら。

滞在中は他にもやること盛りだくさんなので、ほとんど書いてないFacebookあたりで毎日レポートしてみようかなと思ってます。できるかなー。つーか全体的に大丈夫なのか自分。

Buenos Aires-based sound artist Federico Durand sets the tone for his La estrella dormida (The Sleeping Star) with a liner note that reads, in part: “Sometimes at dusk, from the train window, I can see the first star in the sky. Its light is a company that stays by my side during the travel until it gets dark. Then, like a magical presence, the stars, with its shining melody, invite me to dream.La estrella dormida ... is an album to listen to at sunset, during that moment when the sky changes its colour and houses and gardens turn pink, silent, and musical at the same time.” Such words provide a perfect entry-point for the forty-two-minute release, given that their evocative, dream-like tone form a natural complement to the ten settings.

If the music is characterized by one thing in particular, it's intimacy: not only is the listener made to feel as if he/she has been granted access to Durand's inner world, the recording and its “small melodies” were created by him alone using piano, E-bow, analogue synthesizer, music boxes, cassette-tape loops, crystal glasses, and assorted other “tiny things.” There's a hazy quality to the production and a relaxed feel, too, both of which suggest that La estrella dormida was recorded in the comfort of Durand's home.

The pieces themselves are less songs than ambient soundscaping vignettes sprinkled with microsound textures and melodic fragments. Each piece drifts placidly along for two to six minutes at a time, with delicate, fluttering breaths of piano, bells, guitar, and synth tones draped across the tracks' gently undulating surfaces. Perhaps none of the pieces is lovelier than “Reflejos del sol en la superficie del agua,” a twilight ambient serenade that unfolds with a finely calibrated grace, while the one that's most dream-like is “El sueño de Fabergé” for featuring so prominently the bell-like warble of the music box.

Anyone acquainted with the White Paddy Mountain releases issued prior to Durand's will identify La estrella dormida right away as a natural member of that particular club, given that the albums Chihei Hatakeyama has released on his label to date have all shared a stylistic concern for understated ambient soundsculpting.

2014年４月にステファン・マシュー、テイラー・デュプリーと日本各地をツアー、多くの観客を魅了しました。
SPEKKからの『El Estanque Esmeralda』に続く最新作が早くも登場です。
『La estrella dormida (眠り星)』と題された本作は夕暮れ時に、刻々と変わっていく夜空の美しさを静寂と美学でもって描写した渾身の一枚です。小さなオルゴール、チター、ミニシンセ、ピアノ、フィールドレコーディング、カセットテープレコーダーなど、ありふれた楽器をアナログとデジタルの手法を駆使して、ポップなアンビエントに仕上げました。その方法論的美学はリュック・フェラーリや、デヴィッド・チュードアなどの手法が50年の電子音楽の歴史を経て進化したもの、いわば60年代からの電子音楽の末裔なのです。そこでは、アンビエントなのか、電子音楽なのか、ノイズなのかという問いはもう意味をなさないのかもしれません。ここには美しいドローンがあり、時間を忘れさせてくれるような繊細な音が鳴り続けています。
魔法のような音楽、そのような形容詞が似つかわしい最上級の”音楽”と断言できます。

１９７６年生まれ。アルゼンチンのブエノスアイレス郊外Munizのアーティスト。 『La siesta del cipres』が日本のSPEKKよりリリースされ話題となり、その後、イギリスのHome Normalから2ndアルバムをリリース。一躍世界から注目を浴びる存在となり、今やアルゼンチン音響界を代表する音楽家である。アールグレーの紅茶が大好きと語る素朴な人柄同様、彼の音楽は日常や山で採取したフィールド・レコーディングを、ギターなどの楽器と一緒にラップトップで構築したどこか可愛らしい味わいが特徴的な音楽スタイルであったが、近年はラップトップを用いずアナログエフェクターを駆使した音楽に変容するものの、その独特で牧歌的な音楽は現在もさらに磨きがかかっている。

Federico Durand: El idioma de las luciérnagas

If ever a recording was made to be listened to at a particular time of day, it's Federico Durand's El idioma de las luciérnagas. And what time of day? Twilight, the peaceful time after sunset and before dark—or, as it's also called, gloaming, the word sometimes used in speaking of Richard Strauss's “Im Abendrot” (At sunset). Durand's choice of title, then, for his fourth album (and first on vinyl) is certainly apt as it translates as “The Language of Fireflies”—music less meant to be listened to in those hours when day turns to night than absorbed during the stillness that settles in during that time.

Don't be fooled by the seeming simplicity of the music: Durand's material is potent, as listeners familiar with his past releases on Spekk, Home Normal, and Own Records have discovered. For this thirty-seven-minute outing, he used music box, acoustic guitar, Tübingen-bells, tape-loops, and toy piano (among other things) to create the seven pieces and incorporated field recordings made in Muñiz, La Serranita, and Zürich. Durand even goes so far as to supply crickets, accentuating further not only the ideal time to listen to the recording but the location, too: outdoors, preferably a nature setting far away from and untainted by urban noise.

In fact, the atmospheres the field recordings contribute to the album are so central a component that at times it feels more like the musical elements are augmenting them rather than the other way around. In that regard, the cricket chirp that rhythmically persists throughout “Los niños izan las estrellas con hilos de plata” and “El idioma de las luciérnagas” is equal in importance to the respective settings' chiming bell tones and music box tinkles, while chattering birds and piano plinks assert themselves to similarly equal degrees during “Huemul.” While the peaceful and placid mood remains in place in all seven pieces, Durand wisely introduces variety by changing the focal points within the arrangements from piece to piece. In “Mumi,” for example, it's acoustic guitar whereas it's piano or music box elsewhere.

El idioma de las luciérnagas truly is music that encourages you to close your eyes and be transported by the music. Listening to the blurred tones softly whistling through the haze of “El espejo de mil años” evokes the calm of a late-July evening, while “Una ciudad al pie de las montañas” conjures the image of someone lying in a hammock on a summer day surrounded by birds and soothed by the sounds of soft music drifting into earshot from somewhere nearby.

Melodía - Saudades

"Saudades" is the debut by Melodía, the duo of Federico Durand and Tomoyoshi Date. Fede is a musician who lives in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Born in San Paulo, Brazil, where he lived until the age of three, Tomo currently resides in Tokyo, Japan. They both share a profound passion for music. They both released a solo album on Own Records in 2011 and a few months later (Spring 2012) went to Europe for a common tour where they first met and where they decided to record an album together which was mastered by their friend Stephan Mathieu.
